Notes on Differences between OLD 1971 ed, and New 2004 edition

1. The old edition of the K P READER 3 IS ONE PUBLISHED IN 1971 (OE) .The New one (NE) published in 2004

2. The OE is in 2 parts, Theoretical and Practical. The Paging for the 2 parts is not

continuous. So Page numbers will vary.

3. CONTENTS: Numbering in OE after No 72, 75 is printed. This is corrected in the NE. So the topics in the book are now correctly 89 as in NE.

4. The heading above the letter of an Australian Astrologer was "About the Author". This has been corrected to rear "A LETTER FROM AN AUSTRALIAN ASTROLOGER"

5. A New page is introduced "ABOUT THE AUTHOR". This gives the Life sketch of Prof K S K, our Guruji. He passed away in March 1972. So any edition after March 1972, has to be checked for new material added to the OE.

6. THERE IS NO ADDITTION TO THE OE TEXT MATTER IN PART ONE OF THE READER-THEOREICAL

7. The spelling of 'Ketu' is changed to 'Kethu'

So PAGES 1 – 150 CORRESPOND TO 1-44 OF OLD EDITION. THE INCREASE PAGE NOS IS DUE TO CHANGE IN FONT: SO THE THEORETICAL PART CAN BE RELIED UPON AS KSK,S TEACHINGS.

=========================================

PART II IS PRACTICAL: OE HAS 1-356 PAGES

NE HAS 153 TO 540= 387 PAGES. APPARENTLY 31 PAGES HAVE BEEN ADDED.

Notes in Italics are my observations.

1. Chart size is bigger

2. Page 159 (NE): The Long of planets missing:

Merc 13-0: Moon 29-52 : Rahu 9-20

Lagna 23-40: Sat 4-17. These are not printed

Note: Mars aspects Lagna by 7th Hindu aspects: The Western aspect is 190-40

3. Page 163 : Example Chart text:

"As purna Ayush is promised by aspect 0f Mars to Lagna (7th), Jupiter's aspect to lord of Lagna etc…." Jupiter's aspect is 5th aspect(hindu), Western is 109 deg.

4. Page 164 Example II

printer mistakes: In Taurus Neptune 29-27

In Cancer Ketu 7-42:

In Virgo: Moon 15-0

In Libra: Ven 15-29

In Scorpio : Add Mar 6-36: Sun 6-21

5. Page 174: The chart is same as in OE. The DBA on 1-9-1962 has to checked. It appears to be incorrect

6. Page 190: Chart; Printing Mistake: Rahu should be 18-20 or Ketu to be 18-29

Check: Born on 7-8-1920:lmt 7-10 at 22N0 73e16

7. Page 195: Retirement When ?

the whole Para appears NEW: the old edition Para is reproduced below:

"Houses 2,6,10 indicate service. Malefics in their Badhaka Sthana or Lords of

those signs: planets in 12 to 2 or 6 or 10 ,i.e., in 1,5,and 9: or planets in

6 or 8 to them, i.e. 3 and 5 are to end career. Therefore houses 1,3,5,9

indicate retirement and thorough change at that age.

Here Guru is in the constellation, but also ashrama to the of Ketu in 9.

Sani is in 1, not only 12th house to the second but also ashrama to the sixth

House: Ketu is in 9, i.e., vyaya to the 10th house

So at the time when Sun transits in the sign governed by Jupiter, in the star Uthrapada ruled by Saturn and in Ketu sub on or around 21-3-1980, he will retire from service.

Jupiter in Ketu's star indicates that he will donate for renovation of religious centres. So far, he had enough of Iha-Lkoa Sukham. Hereafter, he will follow Para Loka Sadhana "

8. Page 219: Interesting. In the Letter of 5-2-1965 "You took my horoscope and also asked me to give a number within 108. I told 16". This confirms what my friend had told me that KSK was using only 108 (Star padas) for Horary and Not 243 for Subs.

Page 221 in Chart Lagna should be 20 to 23-40. On reading these paras, one has to conclude that KSK has given results of Horary 16 (0f 108), by signs and starts only and not subs.

9. Page 238 In Chart Pisces Mars 29-48 not 29-42

10. Page 314 under "Overseas: Example:. Chart is OKAY. But "Astrological Analysis " is different fro the 1971 Edition. Again Text in 1971 Edition is at variation from original in VOL 2 of KPK. This is understandable, as means of travel abroad had changed between 1960 and 1970.

The 1971 edition, text is reproduced below:

" This chart is to be studied from the point of view of foreign travel or overseas.

Let us first of all know the principle according to K.P. for this consideration.

"To ascertain whether one will have the opportunity to go overseas or not, the houses 3, 7, 9 and 12 are to be considered:."

First of all, let us consider 3rd house. 3rd house is occupied by Kethu, Sun and Venus. Kethu rules Aswini, Makam, and Moolam. No planets is in any of these constellations. Sun rules Krithikai, Uthrapalguni, and Utharashada. No planet is in any of these constellations. Venus rules Bharani, Purvapalguni and Purvashada. Kethu, Sun, Venus and Mars all are in Purvashada constellation, ruled by Mars.

Let is consider 7th house. Mars is occupant of 7. Mars rules Mrigsira, Chithrai and Dhanista. No planet is in any of these constellations. Hence again take Mars.

Now consider 9th house. It is occupied by Rahu. Rahu rules Arudra, Swati and Sathyam. No planets in any one of these. Hence take RAHU.

Now consider 12th house. It is occupied by none. Mercury is lord of 12. Mercury rules Ashlesh, Jyesta and Revati. Only Mercury is in Jyesta, so take Mercury.

Hence significators according to this analysis are Kethu, Sun, Venus, Mars, Rahu and Mercury.

As in all, six significators have come to the surface, we must start the process of elimination by diving deep into the subject matter.

Kethu, who is the significator from the analysis of the 3rd Bhava, is in no way connected with houses 7,9 and 12. Hence eliminate Kethu. Similar case with Sun. So also eliminate Sun.

Venus is in the sub of Mercury, who is lord of 9 and 12. Hence Venus is a strong significator, but more strong than Venus is the planet posited in its constellation and sub. That planet is Mars alone. One may say that Kethu is also in the constellation and sub of Venus, so Kethu should not be eliminated, but Kethu has no concern with any of the houses 7,9, and 12 whereas Mars is the sole occupant of 7th Bhava, hence Mars is stronger. So forget Kethu and Venus and take Mars as a strong significator.

Mercury is posited in its own constellation, hence strong. Further it is in sub of Saturn and in association with Saturn.(Conjunct as per Hindoo aspect).

Hence Mercury is decidedly a significator. Let us be more considerate in our approach. According to K.P. if a node occupies the sign of a significator, it will depute for that planet in all aspects. In this case, Rahu, as a node is posited in the sign Gemini ruled by Mercury. Hence Rahu will act as an agent of Mercury. So forget Mercury, take Rahu as a strong significator.

Hence from this analysis, our strong significators are Rahu and Mars alone.

Let us consider the relevant Cusps.

3rd, 7th, and 9th cusps fall in the sub of Saturn. Hence Saturn is very prominent. Saturn rules Pushyam, Anusham and Uttarapathra. Only Saturn is in Anusham. Hence Take Saturn too as a very strong significator.

Please mark that Saturn has come as a significator, from the analysis of the houses, but also as it is in association with Mercury and in its own constellation, it will act as an agent of Mercury and will do what mercury promises to do.

12th cusp falls in the sub of Jupiter. Jupiter is not one of our significators at all, neither it is in occu-association with any of the significators. No planet is in constellation of Jupiter. Hence eliminate Jupiter without any hesitation.

Hence from this analysis, most strong significators are only Saturn, Rahu and Mars.

IV Confirmation

Actually during Saturn Dasa, Rahu Bhukti, and Mars Anthra, the native left for U.K. on 3-10-1951. This day is ruled by Mercury; Moon's sign is Libra, ruled by Venus and Moon star is Swathi, ruled by Rahu. Hence confirmed ""

The extract ends here. The reasoning is worth deep study, as it shows many principles which one tends to forget. The 7th place is taken, as it indicates, breaks in Journey.

In 1950's travel was by ship, and one had short breaks at ADEN, Cairo before reaching London.

Page 319: Add below the chart: "Moon Dasa balance 7 years 4 months 20 days "

Page 339: The Right Hand Cart is Navamasa chart,

Page 339: After 2nd Para, the following paras from OE are omitted in NE

"Houses 2, 6 and 10 are to be judged. Whenever matters signified by a particular house is to be judged, the following principle is to be universally adopted without exception:-

(a) The lords of the sign, star and the sub where the cusp of the house falls

(b) The planet in the constellation of the occupant of the particular bhava(house)

(c) The Occupant of the house

(d) If there is no occupant in such houses, the planets in the constellation of the lords of the houses..

(e) The lords of the houses.

(f) The planets conjoined with the strong significators and also planets receiving aspect from the significators.

In the above horoscope, houses 2 and 6 are unoccupied and Moon is in 10th house..

The Meridian falls at the 6th degree in Gemini, according to the Nirayan system.

""

Page 345: Below the para "What next", a lot of Text from 1971 edition is missing: This is reproduced below:

"It has been my experience based on the scrutiny of several horoscopes that a native can look for improvement, satisfaction and contentment in one's profession during the period of planet which is chief governor indicating the profession; e.g., if one serves in a Bank which is governed by Jupiter, he can expect good relationship with officials, and popularity and promotion during Jupiter's period and sub period. If one serves in the Police or Military Department indicated by Mars, he will have an advancement in his career during Mars' periods and sub periods. If one acts in the cinema or serves in the transport department, his advancement during periods of Venus is assured. Similarly, for people serving in Postal department, Communication, Engineering, Agency, or in an advisory capacity or Accounts, Auditing, etc., Mercury is the Karaka planet. Therefore one can predict safely, that a native will prosper during Mercury's periods to a greater extent than during the other periods. Saturn makes one serve, in positions of trust etc., but yet shows dissatisfaction. One will not realise his ambition to his entire satisfaction. Slow and steady progress alone will be experienced. But Mercury gives plurality of interests. Unlike the period of Saturn, when money will be entangled, receipts will be less and arrears increase, Mercury pays in advance, arrears will be collected and lump-sum will be received during Ketu sub period in Mercury dasa.

Mercury is in advance to the group of planets in Scorpio and is not hemmed in between malefics. This is auspicious.

For a moment, we should forget the Ascendent. As the Ascendent is occupied by Ketu it should be considered as weak: therefore we should take Moon sign as the first house and rest of the houses should be counted from Virgo.

I think, this para above, has led the editor of the new edition, to omit these paras, as the reasoning is based on Traditional rules.

(a) Moon, lord of 11, conjoined with Jupiter, the lord of 4 and 7, is beneficial.

(b) Ketu in Moon's sign, will improve the position.

(c) Mercury, the lord of 10 in 3, gives you transferable post, in accounts, auditing, inspection, assessment, etc. Scorpio being sign ruled by Mars, the native will have authority also.

(d) Mercury offers the opportunity to represent firms, makes short tours, open branches, and be successful in an advisory capacity. ""

Page 372: Top para "When this position arises, our Gurujee has suggested to us to eliminate those which are not ruling planets at time of judgment"

This para is identical in 1971 edition page 202, bottom most para

This casts a serious doubt whether even 1971 edition contained text not written by KSK

Page 376: The Para :For transfer we have to consider houses 3,9,12………..". The 1971 edition reads "For transfer we have to consider houses 3rd, 10th an 12th. Therefore for husband's transfer consider houses 3, 10 and 12 from 7th house i.e., 9th,4th, and 6th "

In the new edition the houses considered are 9th, 3rd and 6th. Instead of 9,4,and 6th

New Edition: 3rd House: It is Vacant. Lord of 3rd is Venus. Mars in Venus star. We have already discussed Mars, (Mars lord of 9th)

!971 "4th House :It is vacant. Lord of 4th is Mars. We have already discussed Mars."

So in the two analysis, though one takes 3rd house and other 4th house, the end result is Mars as a significator. We will have to check other examples.

Page 384: Rahu is aspected by Mars. This is a Hindoo 4th aspect. No western aspect:

Page 395: The conjunctions mentioned are Hindoo Conjunctions. Not Western

Page 432 Why Lagna is considered" is worth reading.

This is end of the job of a Proof Reader. Hope this helps.

Marriage Document

Note on Rules/guide Lines for Checking for More than one Marriage in a KP

Chart.

Shree Kanak Bosmia, under the guidance of Raichur and Tin Win,

did a statistical study on the 3 guidelines mentione below:

The assumptions ARE: GEMINI (Mithuna), VIRGO (Kanya), PISCES (Meena) are Dual

SIGNS(for this study): MERC, JUP (Budha and Guru) owning these signs are

considered as DUAL Planets( for these guidelines only)

Hindoo Aspects (Vedic aspects) with no orbs, i.e. Sign to Sign are considered

while finding or checking significators of houses.

Within these parameters : The rules are:

RULE-1:MORE THAN ONE marriage is indicated if the BOTH following two conditions are

ARE simultaneously satisfied:

(i) The sub-lord of the 7th cusp OR its Starlord is deposited in a dual

sign(gemini, virgo, pisces) OR if the sub-lord of the 7th cusp is

Mercury/JUP; and

(ii) The sub-lord of the 7th cusp is also a significator of either of

the houses 2 or 11 or both.

If any of the above two conditions is not satisfied, then second

marriage is denied.

RULE-2:Second marriage is indicated if the sub-lord of the 2nd cusp is also a

significator of either of the houses 7 or 11.

RULE-3:As per Kanak:ON ASSUMPTION 2ND WIFE IS CONSIDERED AS YOUNGERSISTER

OF FIRST

Second marriage is indicated if The sub-lord of the 9th cusp is a

significator of either of the houses 2 or 9 or 11.

The study was done on 100 charts, where data was reliable. This was supplied

from ASTRDATA BANK 4.0 and some by shri TIN WIN.

THE RESULTS OF THE STUDY IS AS UNDER:

RULE 1: 74 PERCENT AGREE WITH THIS RULE

RULE 2: 79 PERCENT AGREE WITH THIS RULE

RULE 3: 93 PERCENT AGREE WITH THIS RULE

No rule by itself gives a 100 percent co-relationship

Final Recommendation:

CHECK BY ALL 3 RULES, and then GIVE the prediction on more than one

Marriage.

end.
