***Note:
Unfortunately in this day and age,
there are both legitimate and illegitimateAcademy's and Vedic
Schools of Astrology offering to teach youMaHaBote - Burmese
Birthday Astrology in various parts of the world, and not all of
these institutions are credible sources, or qualified to teach this
system. MaHaBote teachings are also being offered by a few of my former students
who are Teacher Certified, and therefore
do have proper training and credentials to pass these teachings on
to you. I just want you to be aware that if you are interested in receiving the
original, authentic, and unpolluted teachings, know that this system is out
there being offered by a few unscrupulous individuals who are
neither credible, nor certified to teach. (One such individual is a
former student of mine who never completed the Course material, or taken the
appropriate exams, and unfortunately by offering this course to others, is also
'polluting' the true MaHaBote teachings.)
I have all records of my
former students who have completed my MaHaBote Course successfully and passed
the appropriate tests and exams, becoming both Certified and qualified to teach
this system. If you plan on taking the MaHabote Course from another source,
school, or academy who is offering the MaHabote teachings or course for a fee,
please feel free to contact me first and I will be happy to verify the MaHaBote
accreditations of the teaching Academy or Vedic School offering this system to
the public, along with the legitimacy of the individual offering to mentor you
on your journey into MaHaBote - Burmese Birthday Astrology.
For the Year Chart, you will
follow the same procedure as you did for the
Natal Chart, the only difference being, you will use the present (or
desired) year for your subtractions. Example: 1997 minus 638 (if the birth
is after April 15th) divided by 7, and the remainder enters into House
1-Impermanence, construct the chart, put an asterisk* in the House that the
Birth Planet falls into for that year...and there you have the Year Chart.
The Year Charts are treated in the same way as transits, ALWAYS relating
back to the original Birth Chart. An example would be a man born with his
natal Venus in Kingly Position (House 5), may not be too happy with his wife
during the corresponding year that his Year Chart (Transit) shows Venus in
the 6th House (Sickly or Changing). She may become a persistent annoyance to
him, causing him much distress that year, which may come in the form of
physical, mental or emotional stresses. Are you following me somewhat so
far? (Venus - Wife - in a liability house.) Now part of the purpose in the
MaHaBote is to develop your intuition...so be willing, in your readings, to
take a few chances. Another example may show a Natal Sun Birth Planet in
Leader House, and his/her Year Chart Shows his/her Sun falling in House 1 -
Impermanence...he/she will certainly not feel as confident that year as
he/she would have had the year chart showed sun in a higher
position...he/she perhaps will have some temporary disturbances affecting
his/her health or wealth...maybe more nervous tension...etc. Now how we
would narrow this prediction down a little further, is to determine what
planet it falls on when we put the Year Chart "over" the Birth Chart. (An
overlay.) In this example, for the natal Sun to be in Leader, natal Mercury
had to be in House 1 on his/her Birth chart, so we could further say that
maybe his children (Mercury personification...look again at "Characteristics
of Planets") have something to do with his/her ups and downs this particular
year. And so it goes.
MaHaBote
Aspects:
When you first begin to
read the chart, it will seem like the planets are
locked into their respective houses permanently...but of course we know that
people are not like that...many patterns unfold as we begin to merge and
separate the energies apparent in the chart.
Grand Trine:
7
House of Leader
3
House of Fame
4
House of Wealth
5
House of Kingly Position
2
House of Extremity
1
House of Impermanence
6
House of Sickly
The Grand Trine is
composed of planets in Leader, Extremity, and Sickly...go
ahead and draw it right through there, like a triangle. The charts whose
trines run smoothly and harmoniously are the charts that have their energies
compatible with each other. How do we find that out? We look back at the
Table of Planetary Relationships to determine if they are friendly or
hostile energies. Enemies and Hostile Elements will oppose each other and
cause tension. So in our previous example chart, the chart where we have Sun
in Leader, Saturn in Extremity, and Jupiter in Sickly, that Grand Trine
doesn't present difficulty, because Sun and Jupiter are Friends, And Sun and
Saturn are Positive Elements.
The Minor Trine:
7
House of Leader
3
House of Fame
4
House of Wealth
5
House of Kingly Position
2
House of Extremity
1
House of Impermanence
6
House of Sickly
The Minor Trine operates from the center House
of Wealth, connecting
Extremity on one side, and Sickly on the other. In some charts, this may be
a better help in elevating the planetary energies in Extremity and Sickly
when the Grand Trine is less than perfect.
The Square:
7
House of Leader
3
House of Fame
4
House of Wealth
5
House of Kingly Position
2
House of Extremity
1
House of Impermanence
6
House of Sickly
The Square is important
when the client has Enemies or Negative Elements
that block the Trines. the Square consist of Houses 2, 3, 7, 5, and 6. Say a
chart has Mars in 2, Sun in 6, and Mercury in 7. Draw it out and you will
see the problem. (Sun and Mars are Permanent Enemies, Sun and Mercury are
Negative Elements). Now here come Venus (in the 3rd) and Jupiter (in the
5th) to alleviate the apparent hostilities within the chart. Why? Because
Venus and Mars are Friends, as are Jupiter and the Sun. So often times, the
square can come to the rescue.
The Core:
7
House of Leader
3
House of Fame
4
House of Wealth
5
House of Kingly Position
2
House of Extremity
1
House of Impermanence
6
House of Sickly
The 3 planets that form
the Core of the chart are the center planets: Houses
1, 4, and 7. Impermanence, Wealth, and Leader. If the Core can be utilized
in an upward pattern, it can alleviate some of the other problems in the
chart, including trinal or square difficulties.
Cardinal Points:
7
House of Leader
3
House of Fame
4
House of Wealth
5
House of Kingly Position
2
House of Extremity
1
House of Impermanence
6
House of Sickly
The Cardinal Points are
the planets located in houses 1, 3, 7, and 5. They
reach up and out. Whether planets are expanding ones, like the Sun, or
enclosing ones, like Saturn, will affect the pull of the Cardinal Points.
Planetary strengths and weaknesses can also be emphasized by their position
on the chart.
So, with all this going
on in the chart, no one is ever at the mercy of the
chart unless he/she so chooses. Like you know that a person born with Moon
in Sickly is going to be moody and temperamental...imagine all he/she goes
through when he is Moon born in Sickly! That's a challenge! So what kind of
advice to we give the client? We encourage him/her to use Venus to alleviate
some of the challenges the Moon activates. Why? Because Venus sits directly
above Moon in Kingly Position, so any Venus related activity will relieve
his/her moods.

In MaHaBote, the client's
first Major Period is that of his Birthday Planet,
for the given number of years in the chart above. Then, going clockwise,
each planet becomes the Major period for the stated number of years. Major
periods change on the Birthday. Example: A Mars (Tuesday) born person runs
the Mars Major for 8 years, beginning at birth and ending on the day before
his 8th birthday, then on his birthday, he begins a Mercury Major for
another 17 years....etc. So with some calculations we find that for a person
born on Tuesday, 11/15/1949, he/she will be in a Jupiter Major:
Mars: Tuesday Born:
(Using above chart)
0 to 8th Birthday -
Mars Period- 8 Years
8 to 25th Birthday -
Mercury Period 17 Years
25 to 35th Birthday -
Saturn Period 10 Years
35 to 54th Birthday -
Jupiter Period 19 Years
54 to 66th Birthday -
Rahu Period 12 Years
66 to 87th Birthday -
Venus Period 21 Years
87 to 93rd Birthday -
Sun Period 6 Years
93 to 108th Birthday -
Moon Period 15 Years
Minor Periods:
The Minor Periods run for
1 year, and change at each birthday. Some students
have difficulty with this so it is necessary to be very clear on this.
Major and Minor Periods
BOTH change on the birthday...The Year Chart is the
only one that changes on January 1st.
You will have to refer to
the Period Chart for the Minor
Periods...memorization of that table will help you.
Example:
1. Find the age by
subtracting the current year (or year in question) from
the birth year: Birth 11/15/1949)
For this exercise, we
will use the year 1997 - So 1997
minus 1949 = 48
(Remainder )
2. Add "1" if the desired
date is AFTER the birthday. (So if I'm calculating for
12/97, I will add 1; if before 11/15/97, I'll leave alone.)
3. Divide the remainder
by the constant 8. So 48 divided by 8= a remainder
of "0" for 1997, and a remainder of "1" if after the birthday.
4. Always discard the
quotient and keep the remainder, as above.
5. Counting the
birth planet as "1", you then count clockwise from the birth
planet to the number of squares indicated on the chart.
6. If the Remainder
is "0", you will count back 1 square from the birth
planet. So the 11/15/1949 example shows a Moon Minor if calculated for a
date before the birthday that year (with the "0" remainder, and a Mars Minor
if calculated on the birthday that year or after. (with the "1" remainder).
So now we know that the
client is a Tuesday Born, running a Jupiter Major
and a Moon Minor for the year 1997, before the birthday, changing on his/her
birthday to a Mars Minor, with Planetary
Friend Venus; Positive Element, Rahu; Permanent Enemy, Sun; and Hostile
Element, Moon. Now if we construct the Birth
and Year Charts, and discover
the aspects that apply...we're off and running.
And just one more thing
before I close with this section...The only day you
need to know whether the birth time was in the AM or PM is on
Wednesday...and if the birth is a Wednesday PM, it is ruled by Rahu rather
than Mercury. In MaHaBote, a birth is considered Rahu on Wednesday if it
occurs at 12PM or after.
Both Major and Minor
Periods are always blended back into the Birth chart,
just as the Year Chart (transit) is, for delineation. And don't forget to
refer back to the Table of Hostile Combinations (the stressful periods) to
see if that particular Major or Minor is falling under a Hostile Combination
for the Birth Planet.
Planetary
Periods of Strongest Influence:
All planets are not of a
consistent strength during their terms; in other
words, there are stronger times and weaker times during the course of their
planetary influence.
Sun and Mars: Strongest
during the First Third of their influence.
Venus and Jupiter:
Strongest during the Middle Third of their influence.
Moon and Saturn:
Strongest in the Last Third of their influence.
Mercury and Rahu: Steady
all the way through their influence.
So how do we figure this?
In our previous
example, Tuesday Born, Nov. 15, 1949, we have seen a Mars
Born running a Jupiter Major and a Moon Minor. The Jupiter Major runs for 19
years, so we know that the strongest influence for Jupiter is going to be
during the middle third of that time frame. So we then take the 19 years and
divide it by 3, and we get 6 years and 4 months. Now the Jupiter Major
started on the birthday at age 35, on November 15, 1984, for the Mars Born,
so the middle third for that time frame where Jupiter will be strongest is
from March 15th 1991 through July 14th 1997.
Here's how it looks:
First Third: Runs from
Nov.15, 1984 through March 14, 1991
Middle Third: Runs from
March 15, 1991 through July 14, 1997.
Last Third: Runs from
July 15, 1997 through November 14, 2003.
On Birthday, November 15,
2003, at age 54, client enters a 12 Year Rahu Period.
Just remember to divide
the number of years in any planetary period by 3,
and you will be able to determine the period of the strongest influence for
that planet.
The same rules apply for
figuring out the strengths of the Minor Periods,
however these Minors only last one year. In the above example, for a Moon
Minor, which is strongest in the last third of its cycle, for 1997 the
client will run the full strength Minor Moon from July 15 1997 through
November 14, 1997, and on the following day (Birthday) the Minor changes
from Moon to Mars Minor. Hopefully now you may be
able to fine-tune your readings a little further
for more accurate timing.
The Confirmation
Chart:
After using all the
charts above, if the client has a specific question and
you have a doubt in your mind as to the apparent answer, this little chart
comes in very handy. It will give you the additional information or
confirmation, and is again, always used in conjunction with the Birth and
Year Charts. On this chart, for Rahu born, substitute Rahu in place of
Mercury.

1. Take the age. Add 1.
For our example we will
use the birth of Saturday, March 8, 1980, using 1997 as the year in
question.
1997 minus 1980 = 17,
then add 1 if after the birthday, so we will add 1 for this example to make
the total 18.
2. Divide the total by 8.
Discard the quotient and keep the remainder.
18 divided by 8 = 2 with a remainder of 2.
3.
Place the remainder number on top and follow sequence for subsequent
numbers underneath.
Example: Remainder is 2
- So it looks like this: (Don't forget to mark the birth planet with an
asterisk*)
2 (Moon)
6
(Venus)----Working For
3 (Mars)
-----7/0----(Saturn*)---On the
Fence
4 (Mercury)
1
(Sun)------Working Against
5
(Jupiter)
By applying the knowledge you have of the planetary energies, using the
Birth Chart, Year Chart, and Planetary Relationships, you will be able to
confirm what answer to give your client on a specific question. The top 3
planetary energies are "working for", the middle planet can go "either way",
and the bottom planetary energies are "working against."
If you have followed
along and clearly understand the concepts given so far,
and are familiar with the planetary energies, you should be able to
accurately read the MaHaBote and make some predictive statements for the
client's basic personality and possible future occurrences. I cannot
encourage you enough, to check and re-check your math, to make sure you are
working with an accurate chart. And remember, on a Wednesday birth, it is
necessary to know whether it is before or after noon...Mercury or Rahu
ruled.
If you wish to go into
the chart a little deeper, I have a few more "keys"
to unlock a few more doors.
