 MUNDANE ASTROLOGY

As for the reading of SA mundane charts, the same logic applies as in person centered SA astrology. Importantly, the ascendant is crucial for understanding a mundane chart. So please refer to descriptions of the appropriate ascendant as offered by Professor Choudhry and K Rajesh Chaudhary on their web site: http://www.yournetastrologer.com or the recent book by Professor Choudhry and David Hawthorne, which presents an overview of SA astrology, based on the many books by Professor Choudhry (and those co-authored with K Rajesh Chaudhary), "Astrology for Life" is an excellent reference for the various elements of SA astrology helpful in interpreting a mundane chart. Please refer to http://astroview.com for information about ordering this book.

Mundane astrology deals with the planetary influences through Signs and planetary periods in the charts of nations, cities, organizations, corporations, business organizations, etc. etc. It covers objectives and goals of nations, their wealth, political stability, financial position, development, relationship with other countries/nations, natural calamities, public health, infrastructure development, national income, spiritual pursuits followed by its people, etc. etc.

While the impacts are seen through the houses which, govern certain specific aspects of national life/organization life; through the signs which show the level of influence; and the planets which show their results through their placement in the chart, their strength, their functional nature and their relationship with other planets/houses through conjunctions and aspects. The influences are seen particularly which are either close to the most effective points of the various houses or through those houses, which contain mooltrikona signs of various planets.  The planetary influences for the countries are also seen through the charts of the rulers/chief political executives at different points of time in the life of a nation.  In fact the charts of nations and the charts of the rulers/chief political executives work in consonance with each other.

Thor writes: I recall what Ron Grimes wrote in IIPA Journal (Vol 1, No 2).

"While studying with Professor Choudhry, during the summer of 1996, we were discussing the astrological factors that causes a person to rise to great political power. I have found his observations to be quite accurate:

“. . . to give government power, the person must have the positive influence of a strong Sun on the MEP of the Ascendant, second house which rules status, tenth house or ninth house, or their lords.”
- V. K. Choudhry

If I may humbly add one other possible planetary influence, which I have noticed brings significant political power, it would be the positive influence of Jupiter on the positions mentioned by Sri Choudhry."

Information on where to obtain Mundane Data:

One of our list members writes:

While searching for mundane astrology on MSN, I came over an online database of national charts, which apparently use Nicholas Campion as a source. Although western style pages, the "birth" data should be useful for those interested.

By scrolling down the page, one can find information about the source used.

On the same web site, data base of U.S. Presidents: Source used: Lois Rodden and others.
